The Carolina Panthers play in the NFC South division of the National Football League and host all home games at Bank of America Stadium in Uptown Charlotte. The Panthers most recently made the NFL playoffs in January of 2013, but were defeated by the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional game.



 
With the recent renaming of the team from the Charlotte Bobcats back to the original Charlotte Hornets, the city has been buzzing with excitement for the 2014-15 season. The Hornets are owned largely by NBA legend Michael Jordan, and play at Time Warner Cable Arena in Uptown Charlotte.


One of the most exciting additions to Uptown Charlotte in recent years has unarguably been the construction of the $54 million BB&T Ballpark. This state-of-the-art stadium hosts the Charlotte Knights, the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.






 
The Charlotte Checkers are a minor-league professional hockey team, and  the AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes based in Raleigh, NC. The Checkers host all home games at Time Warner Cable Arena in Uptown Charlotte.





 
Founded just three years ago, Charlotte's own Major League Lacrosse team, the Charlotte Hounds, have already gained national attention by clinching a playoff spot in their second year. The Hounds host all home games at American Legion Memorial Stadium in the popular Elizabeth Neighborhood.


 
Often considered NASCAR's "home track", Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600, the Sprint All-Star race and the Bank of America 500. The 1.5 mile track is located 12 miles outside of Uptown Charlotte in Concord, NC.



 
When NASCAR made the decision to honor exceptional drivers, crew chiefs, owners and other major contributors with a NASCAR Hall of Fame, Charlotte was easily selected as the location. The $160 million facility was built in 2007, and is located in Uptown Charlotte.



Hosted by Quail Hollow Country Club in Charlotte, The Wells Fargo Championship is professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour. The tournament is organized by Champions for Education and benefits Teach For America.
